Federal Geospatial Data Committee

The Federal Geospatial Data Committee (FGDC) is a committee that promotes disseminating geographic data which the US Government collects. This includes coordinating development of new data, using data, and sharing the data with the public and other agencies a national basis.
National Spatial Data Infrastrtucture (NSDI) is the name of the nationwide data publishing effort. Their goal is to prevent multiple agencies from creating duplicate data.[1]
